About Bigmite

History

Bigmite started developing web hosting platforms for large corporate intranets in the mid 1990's.

Over time this grew to building mass hosting platforms, corporate search infrastructure, knowledge management solutions and a number of corporate web based solutions.

By the year 2000 Bigmite had extensive experience of the following technologies and decided to expand into internet hosting:-

• Corporate Search - Knowledge Management using Verity K2 and Autonomy
• Shared Hosting Platforms, Standards Compliance, Application Development and Software Lifecycles
• Application Security, SSL, Denial of Service prevention...
• High Availability Solutions, High Performance Hosting Solutions
• Open Source produces such as Apache Web Server, MySQL Database, Perl, PHP, Linux

Having worked on Unix platforms since the mid 1980's it seemed sensible to host our own servers and manage our own infrastructure. Since 2005 we have run all our services fully inhouse, building servers, managing software and providing support for existing clients. See our customer comments.
